Gladness

Psalm 100 2.jpg

“Whining has become a way of life,” sighed Greta. By that statement, she whined as well.

How have we come to this?

Well, the world has become such a complex web of issues that it is sometimes difficult to untangle it. But if we read through Psalm 100, we find that David sang all the way—easily and cheerfully—in worshipping God.

His words call us to realize that we belong not to this complex web but to God our Maker, and therefore we should praise Him for Who He is.

When we feel as though we are becoming whiners ourselves, suffering through this cop-out phrase, “If it’s the Lord’s will,” let us look to David and how he praised God with pep and verve—and gladness.

The flip side of whining is gladness, an attitude of gratitude that makes our heart sing and dance about the goodness of our Maker.

May this be our prayer today:

“Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture” (Psalm 100:1-3).
