Bible Journaling 101

What is Bible Journaling?

  • Expressing and documenting your faith and walk with God by means of art in your bible.

Things to remember when Bible Journaling:

  1. Start with what you have. Check in your stash if you have crayons, paint, or any cards from scrap papers. If you don’t have a journaling bible, you can use a normal bible and journal in your notebook.

  2. Let your creativity flow. There is no right or wrong in bible journaling. Use any kind of medium you have.

  3. Have fun. Don’t worry if you messed up the pages as long as you’re having fun.

  4. Find your rhythm. We all have different styles and as you go along you will discover yours.

  5. Seek and listen to God.

Tips in Creating your page:

  1. Start simple. It can be stickers and washi tapes.

  2. For more cohesive style, check what color combination goes well. Are you aiming for fun and happy colors or muted? There’s a lot of color pallet combination you can choose from.

  3. Try to form a triangle when you’re creating marks, putting washi or stamping this will help balance your page.

  4. Be your own style.

  5. Start somewhere. Don’t be afraid to journal on those blank pages.

  6. Layering. It can be scrap papers on top of paint or layers of scraps for embellishment.

  7. Always put the date – this will help you keep track of what God’s telling you.

  8. Do what works for you.

  9. Once you get comfortable, don’t be afraid to try something new. Maybe you’ve never done paint – try it. And see what you will discover with yourself.
